A superb and rare photo of two 1960s World Champions;Jim Redman
(front) on the famous
Honda 250cc six cylinder RC166 factory GP racer
and
Phil Read
(rear) on the
Yamaha 250cc RD05 V-four 4-cylinder factory Grand Prix racer
.
The photo was taken during the
250cc Grand Prix of
France
in
1966
.
Jim Redman would finish the race in the 2ND place.
Phil Read would finish 3RD.
Jim Redman’s Honda team mate Mike Hailwood would win the race.
In an exiting season Mike “ the Bike “ Hailwood won the 250cc World Championship.
Phil Read finished second, and Jim Redman third.
It is a wonderful photo, as both riders scored at least 1 World Championship title in the 1960s.
