Item Condition
Used. Tested working. All fittings and sealing components are in good condition.
Testing
Powers on. All buttons responsive. We replaced a magnet to achieve better sputtering uniformity. Leak tested all fittings and did not find leak. Sputtered a piece of glass slide using a silver target. At 20 mA of current for 1 min, a uniform layer of silver was formed. Conduction path is percolating. Tested in-plan resistance across several locations and all achieved consistent resistance. See pictures and video for more details. Rotating sample stage works.
Time to reach the vacuum level for coating will depend on the cleanness of the chamber and the sample. We were able to achieve the vacuum level with a RV12 pump in about one minute after repeated testing. The pumping time in the video was about 5 minutes, as the unit has been in storage for a while.
We do not have a gold target for testing. We tried with a piece of gold foil and it coats fine. Gold is generally a more forgiving target than silver.
The unit has a film thickness monitor. We did not test the FTM since we lack the holder for it.

Features
The K550X system employs a Magnetron Target Assembly, which enhances the efficiency of the process using low voltages, and giving a fine grain; cool sputtering, without the need to cool the target or the specimen stage.
The unit is fully automatic for the entire pumping/bleeding/sputtering/purging cycle.
