Mike Hailwood
in full action on the
M.V. Agusta 500cc four cylinder Grand Prix racer
during the (
East) German Grand Prix
that was ridden on the
Sachsenring
circuit on the
18
th
of August 1963
.
Mike would win the race with a magnificent average speed of
78.78 mph
(126.79 km/hr)! He went on to become 500cc world champion that year on the photographed machine!
The magnificent MV Agusta four cylinder racing machines were responsible for a strong string of successes, including an impressive number of world championships. Mike Hailwood was a true legend in his own right. To the experts he simply is the best motorcycle racer ever. He won his first World Championship at the age of twenty one. He won nine World Championships, 76 Grand Prix wins and fourteen T.T Races on the extremely difficult
Isle of Man
course.
