    Description

    WE
    ARE
    CLEARING OUT OUR ARCHIVES!
A superb and rare image of the desmodromic
    Ducati 750 SS
    & future 500cc World Champion
    Franco Uncini
    , in action during the
    Magnani Trophy race
    that was held on the
    Italian circuit of Misano
    on the
    2
    nd
    of June 1975
. Uncini would win the race with an average speed of
    135.088 km/h
    (
    83.939 mph
    )!
Franco Uncini would become the 500cc World Champion in 1982, he is photographed during his early career days, riding the magnificent desmodromic Ducati 750SS, one of the most famous Superbikes of the seventies.
The Ducati V – twin was a very strong contender in the large capacity long distance racing classes, as their power and speed were very strong points.
Uncini rode, together with Giulio Sabattini, for Bruno Spaggiari’s race team. Spaggiari wrote history in 1972, when he finished 2
    nd
behind Paul Smart during the famous Imola race that launched the 750 Ducati V-twin racers.
The Ducati 750 ‘s were often used in production based racing on both sides of the
    Atlantic
. In the early 1970’s, long distance racing was extremely popular in
    Europe
    , especially
    Italy
. These events were responsible for the quick gaining popularity of the heavier sports motorcycle, like the Ducati 750 SS, the Moto Guzzi V7 Sport, the Benelli 650 Tornado, the BMW R 90 S Daytona and the Laverda SFC 750; but also the Japanese sports motorcycles like the
    Kawasaki
350, 500 and 750 triples, but also heavy four strokes like the Honda CB 750 Four. Riders that would make world fame, like Franco Uncini and Marco Lucchinelli, all participated in these races before they made the steps to the Grand Prix World Championship racing scene.
This is your rare chance to own an image that reflects a very interesting piece of Ducati’s glorious history. Therefore it is printed in a nice large format of ca. 8" x 11.8" (ca.

    cm).
