    Description

A superb and extremely rare photo of
    the great Mike Hailwood
    on the
500cc desmo Ducati factory Grand Prix V-twin.
The photo was taken during a test session on the circuit of Silverstone in 1971.
This historic photo shows the very special 500cc V-twin racer, designed as a Grand Prix racer to contest the 500cc World Championship. This machine is the forefather of all Ducati V-twins. It was designed by Fabio Taglioni , a.k.a. Dr. T.
Mike Hailwood made a return from car racing to motorcycle roadracing in 1971. The first race he would ride again was at
    Silverstone
    ,
    England
. Ducati approached him to ride their new 500cc Grand Prix racer. Mike tested the machine at Silverstone in August 1971. This photo shows him during that test session.
Mike decided however not to start with the Ducati in the event, instead he borrowed a 350cc Yamaha from Paul Smart, with which he finished fourth.
It is an extremely historic photo, as it shows the magnificent multi, multi, multi world champion Mike Hailwood on one of the most historic Ducati’s ever build, namely their first ever V-twin motorcycle, ánd their first ever V-twin racer, ánd until recently their only 500cc Grand Prix racer!
This is your rare chance to own this
    non period
photo that reflects a very interesting and highly historic part of Ducati’s glorious racing history. Therefore it is printed in a nice large format of ca. 6.1" x 10.6" (ca.
    16 x 27
    cm).
