That year Geoff Duke was defending BMW’s racing colors in the 500cc World Championship. The photo was taken during a visit to the
BMW factory, early 1958
. Geoff stands next to a factory Gelände Sport , or GS , enduro - offroad
- trail - works machine.
Geoff Duke was an excellent rider, winning no less then
6 World Championships
(on Norton and Gilera) and
33 Grand Prix races
between 1950 and 1958.
